About
Dr. Angelo Ciliberti
From my centrally located Boulder office, I offer individual therapy, process groups, and psychoanalysis for adults and young adults. My clinical approach, grounded in contemporary psychoanalysis and current attachment research, addresses a wide spectrum of challenges including trauma, depression, anxiety, and relationship difficulties. Drawing on over two decades of experience, I’ve cultivated a deep expertise in working dynamically with clients across diverse identities, cultures, and sexualities. My practice is an inclusive space where your unique experiences and perspectives are not only respected but integral to the therapeutic process.
My Education
My clinical journey began at Naropa University, where I earned a Master’s Degree in Contemplative Counseling Psychology. It was here that I first encountered psychoanalysis, discovering its profound insights into the unconscious mind’s powerful & enigmatic influence on our lives and relationships. This experience ignited my passion for exploring the generative depths of the psyche and its transformative potential in individual and group therapy.
Following my graduation, I spent several years at a transitional living treatment center for young adults, where I progressed from therapist to clinical director. This immersive experience honed my expertise in individual, group, and family therapy, equipping me with a versatile skill set to address the complex dynamics of both personal growth, addiction recovery, and family systems
My Doctorate
Hungry for more learning, I pursued a doctorate in Clinical & Organizational Psychology at the Professional School of Psychology in Sacramento, CA. This rigorous program not only broadened my understanding of cutting-edge research but also deepened my insight into the profound impact of early childhood experiences on the unconscious mind. A highlight of my studies was the opportunity to work closely with renowned group analysts, exploring the intricate interplay between cultural and political forces and group dynamics at both conscious and unconscious levels. This multifaceted education has enriched my clinical approach, allowing me to offer a unique blend of individual and systemic perspectives in my therapeutic work.
Group Leadership
To further develop my group leadership skills, I have spent the past nine years attending the Center for Group Studies in New York City. Through this training I have learned to facilitate therapy groups that serve as powerful catalysts for personal & relational change. These process groups offer a unique opportunity to revisit and rewrite the often painful lessons from childhood that shape our adult relationships.
Advanced Psychoanalytic Training
Currently, I am expanding my clinical expertise as an adult psychoanalytic candidate at the Denver Institute for Psychoanalysis. This rigorous training is deepening my understanding of the unconscious mind and its profound influence on our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Through intensive coursework and supervised clinical experience, I’m honing my ability to help clients explore their inner worlds, uncover hidden patterns, and achieve lasting psychological change. This advanced training complements my existing therapeutic approach, allowing me to offer an even more nuanced and effective form of long-term, in-depth psychotherapy to my clients.
